- March/April Newsletter - A new crisis mode
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has caused a new global anxiety. The biggest tragedy is the human suffering on the ground that is leading to people losing everything, and massive migrations of refugees. Inextricably linked are the economic implications to all of the world including Russia, as well as a new West vs. East narrative. It is now important to deal with this crisis in a context of ALL global challenges we face. Completely drowned out by the reporting on the war for example was the impending collapse of the Amazon rainforest and the latest IPCC report that offers again the ‘bleakest warning yet’ on impacts of climate breakdown. Our dependence on oil and gas is coming to the fore again too. The entanglement of our energy supply with rogue governments should make for the best case study why countries and businesses need to invest above and beyond renewable energy.
