Frederik Otto is the Founder and Executive Director of The Sustainability Board (TSB). He co-developed the organisation’s first report on global boards' ESG preparedness in 2019 and has since grown TSB into a globally recognised think tank with focus on advancing sustainable leadership and governance. Frederik also is an Executive Advisor for TSB Global Advisors where he leads client engagements.

Frederik has 15 years’ experience consulting multinational companies on organisation and human capital strategy, having worked for FTSE250 and Global Fortune 500 companies. His most recent corporate role was Advisory Lead & Head of Client ESG for the advisory and outsourcing business of The Adecco Group, one of the world's largest provider of human capital solutions. Previously, he was Vice President for APAC within the same division leading the business in 14 countries. He also was a subsidiary board director in Singapore and Indonesia, having established the business in the latter country. Frederik started his career as an entrepreneur in Germany in 2007.

He was the first ally member of the Council for Inclusive Capitalism and is a fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.

 

Frederik has a diploma in Business Administration from the German chamber of industry and commerce, which he was also an advocate for; he further completed the Oxford Strategy Programme of Saïd Business School; the High Impact Leadership Programme of Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Leadership (CISL); and Sustainable Business Strategy and Credential of Readiness (CORe), both of Harvard Business School. He has further completed certificate courses with the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN), INSEAD, and others.

 

In 2023, Frederik co-created the Sustainable Leadership Preparedness Programme, where he teaches alongside 13 other acclaimed guest faculty experts.

 

Frederik hosts the ‘Leadership Conversations by TSB’ podcast, which was awarded as one of the Top 60 Sustainable Business Podcasts on the web. He still regularly authors reports and leads research on sustainability board preparedness. He has been published four times in the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance, and in several other reputable publications.
